Chief Organizer in Sri Lanka
Mr. M.H.S.M. Munas
I am privileged to be appointed as the Vice President by the Ceylon Trade House and Aeropagus of St.Petersberg, Russian federation and I take this opportunity to thank them whole heartedly, and for entrusting me with the task of developing and building economic and trade partnerships between the two countries.
At a time where Europe and the west are looking at the fast developing and more stabilized Asian region for economic and trade relations, there would not be a better place than participating at Expo Asia 2009, which is to be held in August at St.Petersberg, Russian Federation under the leadership of City Administration and Government of Leningrad Area, in which exhibitors mainly from Asian region are expected to participate.
St.Petersburg is now more cosmopolitan than before and is open for international trade. It has built the necessary infrastructure facilities suitable for business climate required by the international participants.
Sri Lanka has the potential to compete with world standards in their products and services and this would be the appropriate place to win and make a global presence.
Sri Lanka’s trade and economic relations with Russia dates back to more than half a century. I believe with our strong understanding and relationship with Russia and the blessings of His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka, The Ministry of Trade, Export Development Board, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and other relevant institution would extend their guidance and cooperation in making this event a success.
This is an ideal opportunity for all Sri Lankan entrepreneurs to exhibit their product and services at Expo Asia 2009 Exhibition, which will no doubt bring immense benefits, since this is an opening of a window to the Russian Federation and to the EU markets as well. It would be the platform for Sri Lanka to penetrate the large Russian market which has an unsaturated market for goods and services.
Russia being one of stable and large economies of the world, has stood the economic crunch prevailing globally. It would be prudent for the exhibitors to make use of this opportunity to bring in the much needed foreign exchange which would be an impetus to Sri Lankan economy.
The Exhibition which is jointly organized by Ceylon Trade House, Russia and Sri Lanka Export Development Board under the guidance of Hon. Minister G.L.Peiris, Ministry of Foreign Trade Relations, is a One-Stop-Shop for building bilateral Trade Agreements, Trade Finances and Investments, Promoting Inter Trade Relations and Legal Frame Work, and for many other cohesive businesses.
The vision of His Excellency the President envisaged in the “Mahinda Chintanaya” is to give priority for Export Oriental and Investment projects and spells out the incentives for investors in developing and promoting International Trade, which would bridge the Public and Private sector co-operation in developing this country.
